Meet our Staff

Amanda
Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist

Picture
Amanda's family has been taking their own pets to Sudbury Animal Hospital since before Amanda was even born! When she heard a position was available at the hospital, she leapt at the opportunity! Now she's been a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist here since May 2013.
Amanda grew up with her family in Stow. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Albion College in Michigan in 2012. After moving back home, she was hired as a dogwalker and doggie-daycare associate. After six months of working the job, she heard about the Sudbury position and immediately applied.
At the clinic, Amanda simply enjoys making her furry patients happy. It makes her day if she can get a pet to wag a tail, do a trick, or roll over for a belly rub. She loves learning about animal medical care, which Sudbury Animal Hospital is a great environment for.
Currently, Amanda lives in Millis with her husband, Rob, their cats, Ruby and Amy, and their dog, Barley. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys singing, hiking, relaxing with a good book, and socializing with her friends and coworkers

Kate
Certified Veterinary Technician

When Kate's male weimaraner was about a year old, he suffered a string of minor injuries that required several trips to the vet's office. Kate's veterinarian thought she could handle performing some bandage changes herself-caring for her pet showed Kate that she could do more than she thought she could, and it inspired her to work in the veterinary field herself!
Kate grew up in Concord, Massachusetts with her parents and older brother. After graduating college, Kate worked a number of odd jobs. It wasn't until she got involved with showing and breeding that she realized that working with animals was what made her truly happy. She came to Sudbury in 2003, where she now serves as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  Kate is also  volunteer firefighter at the Dunstable Fire Department and graduated from the Call/Volunteer program at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in 2020.  Kate lives in Dunstable with her two sons, as well as Vince, the weimaraner, her 3 cats, and many chickens and ducks! When time permits between work and family, Kate likes working outdoors and baking.

Melanie
Certified Veterinary Technician

Picture
Melanie developed a passion for animal care early in life, growing up in a home where her father encouraged her to have many different pets. This lifelong love of animals ultimately led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

She began her work in the veterinary field at the front desk of an animal hospital and later transitioned into a veterinary technician role at an emergency facility. After discovering that emergency medicine wasn’t the right fit, she sought opportunities in general practice and joined Sudbury Animal Hospital in July of 2012. Since then, she has continued to enhance her skills and knowledge within the profession.

In 2020, Melanie earned her Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and successfully passed the VTNE to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.

At home, Melanie lives with her husband, their two cats, Fiona and Pixie, and their dog, Luna. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Abbey
Certified Veterinary Technician

Picture
Abbey grew up in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. From birth, her love of all animals was obvious, and it only grew over time. She went on to study Wildlife Science at Purdue University, where she was a proud member of the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band. She took internships raising lion cubs in South Africa, monitoring biodiversity in the Peruvian Amazon, as well as volunteering at various zoos. Despite all the unforgettable adventures, she just wasn't interested in pursuing a career in researching wildlife. Not knowing what to do after graduation, she took a trip to Sweden for a month, then came home to a message from boyfriend's mother saying that she had talked to her veterinarian's office and gotten Abbey an interview. In August of 2015, Abbey started working at Sudbury Animal Hospital, where she fell in love with veterinary medicine and looks forward to going to work each day! In 2020, Abbey earned her Associates degree in Veterinary Technology.
Abbey now lives in Ashland with her husband Alex, their goofy cat Dunkin, and their adorable pug Georgie. In her free time, Abbey loves to travel as much as possible, cheer on the Patriots and her beloved Purdue Boilermakers, take long walks with Georgie, and watch lots of movies.

Danielle
Receptionist

Picture
Before joining Sudbury Animal Hospital, Danielle was a long-time client who regularly brought her grandparents’ pets to the clinic. She always appreciated the care they received and knew she would enjoy being part of the team. When an opportunity opened, she enthusiastically applied and began her career here.

Danielle grew up in Natick, Massachusetts, in a home filled with animals. After completing college, she followed her passion for working with pets and joined the hospital she had trusted for years. As a receptionist, Danielle enjoys keeping the front desk organized, assisting clients, and working closely with the veterinary team.

Danielle now lives in Upton with her husband, Lee, and their son, Steven. Their family includes many pets, including their dogs, Chief and Dega, and their cat, Bookem’. Outside of work, Danielle spends most of her time with her family and loves watching her son grow.

Regina
Veterinary Assistant

Picture
Ever since Regina was little, she’s always loved animals and knew she wanted to work with them. She grew up around lots of pets—cats, dogs, birds, and fish—which only enhanced her desire to continue on that path. After working at a pet store for a few years, she finally made the leap into veterinary medicine at Sudbury Animal Hospital, where she started as a receptionist. Eventually, she learned how to work in appointments and is also being trained in surgery and lab work! On days when she’s not working, she spends time with her dog, Carlisle, and her cats, Soma and Lukka.

Marlena
Certified Veterinary Technician

Picture
Marlena is one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians. From as early as she can remember, all she wanted to do was be a veterinarian. For a few years, she switched her dreams to wanting to be a zookeeper, but ultimately, veterinarian became the dream job again. When looking into undergrad, she looked for animal science to pre-veterinary majors, and ended up enrolling at University of Massachusetts Amherst.
After the first semester, the Veterinary Technology major was announced and it sparked her interest, so she switched her path. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Technology in May of 2023. She took her VTNE that summer, passed, and became a CVT.

She has 3 pets at home, her beagle, Beethoven, who was adopted from Mount Ida when he was 5, and her cats, Cleo and Lily, who were adopted from Buddy Dog Humane Society at 9 months old.

She ended up at SAH because a family friend (Melanie) reached out to her brother and asked if he knew anyone who could work there as a receptionist, and he gave her information. She applied, and due to her schooling being in Veterinary Technology, ended up starting as a surgery assistant instead. Even having gone through 4 years of school, the hands on experience she received from SAH was fundamental in shaping her into the technician she is.

RACHEL
CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Rachel has been a certified veterinary technician for sixteen years.  During that time she has enjoyed teaching clients about how to care for their pets, and  working in our lab.  Outside of the hospital,  she likes to spend time going on visits with her therapy dog Odie, and fostering dogs waiting for their forever home.  When she is not working with animals, she enjoys spending time with her two children and husband.

BRENDAN
VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Brendan was born and raised right here in Sudbury MA. Growing up he always had an affinity for dogs. He would visit with his neighbor’s pets and ask for his own dog every Christmas. At age 8, he got his first dog and his passion for training and caring for animals began. While in high school, he volunteered at a local animal shelter. After high school, Brendan worked at a local boarding facility while studying animal behavior.
He became a certified Dog Obedience trainer through Animal Behavior College. After certification, Brendan began working at a local shelter caring for and training dogs without homes. His passion quickly became working with fearful and shy dogs, to help them feel loved and safe. Brendan became interested in working in veterinary medicine while accompanying the shelter pets for their medical appointments. This exposure led him to pursue working in an animal hospital. Brendan continues his volunteer work at area shelters and is available for private obedience lessons.
